POEMS BY KATHRYN ANDREN

My Longing for the Night. Poem by Kathryn Andren
on the occasion of Spring Equinox 2014

Many hours of heart’s delight

receiving stars in chill of night

I feel you friends, teachers and guides

near and far, whispering wise

The Zodiac marks time, through space

It soul’s choice to descend and find this place

Our home planet, place of birth

With gratitude we arrive on Earth

Souls descend through Sacred hoop

Ancestors align on Galactic loop

Cosmic keys and a Solstice Sun,

My mystical man Orion

We honor four directions:

Bull, Human, Eagle, Lion

Spontaneously in the light of day

While missing friends in garden play

Those starry scenes from black of night

Twinkle through the blue in full daylight

Not just up, or out or down

Suddenly the stars are all around

Pollux, Castor, Capella, Procyon

Regulus, heart of the Lion

There’s Queen Cassiopeia with her  crown,

Her seven daughters staring down

There’s Aldebaran, red eye of the bull

Blue sparkling Sirius fills me full

For lifetimes, moons, I’ve stared above

Journeying through stars I love

At dawn when day star returns its light

I feel my longing for the night

These blessed stars, alive in me

Radiate wisdom for all to see

Heaven above and Earth below

One in the same, it is so

Astrology the Answer. Poem by Kathryn Andren
on the occasion of March Equinox c 2015

You light me up

Alive on fire

Astrology the answer for curious desire

Divine presence integrating above and below

Illuminates awareness for action

So now I can know

Astrology the answer

When should I start

Who's in control

Who’s on top

Who are you really

When does it end

Why are we together

Can we remain friends

When did it happen

When will it stop

Astrology reveals matters of heart

What is my karma

How is this true

Why in the world am I attracted to you

Astrology the answer for more conscious choices

Alive in us

A clarion of voices

Creating context

heaven on earth

Compassion transition

renewal rebirth

Planet precision

Informing decisions

Increasing awareness

Activating vision

My fellow humans tell me your situation

Are you willing to share

Birth date, time and location

Do you dare reveal to me

That secret formula so we may see

Earth air fire water

Alchemist recipe

Long Lost Evening Star. Poem by Kathryn Andren
on the occasion of Venus Retrograde January c. 2014

You are gone now

you big tease in all your brightness

flirting with me for months

You have disappeared

but I know

where you are hiding

Seeing you out there these past few weeks,

simply knowing you’d be going

has made our time together more sweet

It's only for now the wonders of the West are dissolved

you will come back to me

Venus Goddess of Love

I await your return

anticipating

your alluring arrival in the East

Watching, waiting, longing

for you, Venus

my star gaze love affair

Back in August 2012, my friend Dana and I took a walk at one of our neighborhood power places, The City of Refuge. As we turned the corner of the sacred temple site at the Pu'u Honua O'Honaunau, Dana asked me, "so, Kathryn Andren, how do you feel about feeling your feelings?"

HA! I laughed to myself internally and replied to her, that when she said that, my throat actually contracted. Thanks to her expertise as a LMFT and a series of exercises called SRI, she facilitated a unique experience for me.  Here I got the ah-ha understanding when I feel my true feelings, my feelings are a gift to me. When I share my true feelings with others, I gift them as well.  To celebrate this event, I  wrote a this poem called “My feelings Are A Gift". I shared a revised version of this poem at a recent Poetry Slam, at the Gallery Meld in Kona on March 22, 2014.  It was this poem that brought me to the "bonus round" for 4th place.  What fun to deliver this poem and "Life At The Crossroads" from my previous post to a room of over 100 people.

My Feelings are a Gift. Poem by Kathryn Andren
c. August 2012, revised for 2014.

My feelings are a gift for me and for you
When I feel my feelings, then I know what’s true

I may be happy, sad, joyful, mad
Blissful amazement, overwhelmed, glad!

My feelings are a gift, liberating me
When I share my feelings, all of us are free

At the City of Refuge we heard voices
To clear old beliefs and make new choices

A Stone Circle created in the sand
A Healing vortex on sacred land

Protected by the Beings sitting on the wall
We felt safe and strong to voice for all

Moving rocks we had some nerve!
But They knew we were here to serve.

Breathing deeper, we move higher,
with wind and land, water and fire.

Transformed, awakened, dancing palms near
Whispering wind let us know loud and clear

These Hawaiian islands were once voiceless
Now Ancestors bless us to make new choices

An initiation, for expressing more.
This is what you came here for.

My feelings are a gift, liberating me
When we share our feelings, then we all are free.

Life at the Crossroads. Poem by Kathryn Andren

on the occasion of a Mars retrograde in Libra and Equinox March 2014
What happens when an astrology consultant confronts her very own mid-life crisis? Better write poems!

There you are again, flirting with me in all your brightness.

I watched you for months.

Seeking you out with each sweet sunset, trying to catch a glimpse of your coy crescent smile. My longing each evening, just to see you again.

I knew you were going down, and I would go with you.

Venus, Goddess of Love, disappears, retracts and retreats.

I felt you so intently, knowing then, it would all end.

What dances did you do behind the veil?

I can’t see you,

blinded by the Sun.

But believe me, I feel you.

You left me wondering,

waiting

in your underworld rendezvous.

What message from Mercury?

Reconcile or repelled by powerful Pluto?

So, now you’re back, burning bright in the east.

A revealing retrograde.

Empowered now, you are so strong.

I knew it would happen all along.

These magical morning surprises.

I delight myself in awesome wonder of your daily progress.

I watch you climb

higher and higher

each day

yet here I stay

stuck.

Another turn of the Moon hastens Year of the Horse.

Now I hold the reins of my Chariot,

charging forward to meet life at the crossroads with these timely transits.

Mars in Libra

stations

slowly

seducing Spica

my Sun star.

Activating antagonist,

discussing, dividing and deciding.

What is fair?

I am fighting for my life.

There will be no more sacrifices on this cardinal cross.

Kill me with kindness Jupiter in Cancer. A community opens doors as I move in and out of my own house like a living transit.

Rattled by Uranus. Creative inspiration instigates individuation.

It’s almost predictable at fruitful forty.

Pluto, renew, arise and fly.

I surrender the old self to die.

Serious Saturn rekindles Pele’s fire and unseen desire.

Thank heavens for Neptune, calling me to sea,

Hawaii dolphins and whale song rejuvenate me.

Beyond imagination of predictions and plans

As planets meet at the crossroads, I know life’s in my hands.

When everything’s changing, I gaze up to the stars,

My constant companions, I’m home wherever you are.
